Letting Go This Autumn: Homeopathy for Grief, Lungs & Gut Health

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathic Medicine is a safe, non invasive, holistic and comprehensive system of medicine which treats the individual, not just the disease by stimulating the body’s own healing mechanisms. Using natural remedies which are free from side effects and do not interfere with other medical treatments, homeopathy is safe to use during pregnancy, and is particularly effective for children. Homeopathic remedies can be used alongside Allopathic Medicine (mainstream medicine).

How can homeopathy benefit you & your family

You and your family can be treated with homeopathy for a wide range of diseases, both physical and emotional.

Homeopathy can be successfully used to treat arthritis allergies, hayfever, asthma, ADHD, behavioural problems, childhood illnesses, colds, coughs, depression, mood swings, anxiety, digestive complaints, IBS, fevers, headaches, infertility, post-operative recovery, PMT, pregnancy, skin conditions, sleep problems, sports injuries, vaccination issues and many more.

AUTUMN falls away

We are leaving Autumn behind and moving into Winter here in the UK. Our clocks have gone back. We can focus on our lungs, which, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) express the emotion of grief in the Autumn.

Just like trees letting go of their leaves, for us, Autumn gives us an opportunity to let go emotionally; grief, loss, disappointment in love or life, feeling aggrieved, work and family life stresses.

We also let go and release through our large intestine, so those suffering with constipation, for example, could ask themselves; what are you holding onto, emotionally?

Our lungs are connected to the large intestine and skin, which is why our gut health is so important as it underpins our immunity. Often our skin is an expression, a symptom to note, a hardening of our outer shell.

Grief - A Case Study & Testimonial

I recently treated a homeopathy patient for a skin issue, which, upon consultation, I came to discover was linked to grieving.

We often don’t realise we are grieving and this can present itself through our skin and other ways. Seeing a holistic Homeopath enables a thorough diagnostical case taking to treat the cause of the issue and not just the outwardly presenting symptoms.

I'm always so grateful for a Homeopathy testimonial:

Mia treated me with homeopathy for dry skin. I commented one day that my hands are always dry, eczema forming on my knuckles sometimes splitting and bleeding, my legs were dry too. Mia suggested she could help, we had an hour’s consultation covering my family’s medical history and my life story.  She treated me with three different remedies, she said she was treating me for grief.  To be honest I thought this was unlikely, my mum had passed away but over 10 years ago.

However, Mia was right, my dry skin cleared up and has stayed that way since, it was over 2 years ago! ~ Leslie

Homeopathy to support our lungs

Remedies such as

1. Ignatia

2. Natrum mur

3. Buddleia

4. Aurum metalicum (gold)

There is a lot of science behind why taking gold in supplement form can help depression, particularly.

Of course, when it comes to homeopathic remedies it's worth remembering we experience emotions differently and present symptoms individually; we might use different remedies if we were supporting the lungs for a chest infection or a cough depending on the causation, so I would always recommend a full case taking in order to make a bespoke prescription for you and your family.

How you can support your large intestine

Did you know your immunity is largely made in your large intestine? We spoke about the benefits of probiotics and prebiotics at our Skin & Guts fundraiser last month and how supporting our gut microbiome is essential for good health.

Remember to increase your fibre content and to hydrate. Hydration is so important.

A warming soup or a wholesome juice are so beneficial.

Try increasing your intake of fruit, vegetables, nuts,  seeds and seaweed too!

Check out my Facebook and Instagram posts for some delicious healthy juicing ideas.

Water Kefir is an inexpensive way to culture probiotics which feed your gut microbiome, you can read about my endevors in a post on Instagram HERE.

Herbal teas, such as hypericum (St. John's Wort), chamomile, nettle, mint, and avena sativa are ideal. You can even make a delicious forage tea by collecting your own leaves from the garden or countryside – just be sure to only use the leaves of plants you are 100% sure of. Maybe a juice book or a foraging guide book would be good to add to your Christmas list this year!
